The ferry

Caribbean Cruisin’ runs the main service from inside Heaving Down Rock Marina, also called Walkin Marina, to Bellefield Landing on North Caicos. Sailings run several times a day, with fewer on Sundays and from September to mid-November; reserve ahead and arrive 20 to 30 minutes early.

Getting around

A mile-long causeway, rebuilt after the 2008 hurricanes, links North Caicos to Middle Caicos, and ordinary cars can drive it; watch for potholes.

Mudjin Harbour

On Middle Caicos, about three miles of beach and cliffs. The access is inside Dragon Cay Resort by the Mudjin Bar and Grill, with free parking and a short concrete path down. A stone path along the cliff top leads to stairs and a hidden cave, and in calm conditions a sandbar runs out toward Dragon Cay.

Conch Bar Caves

A large dry cave system on Middle Caicos, mined for guano from the 1880s, where Lucayan artefacts have been found. The National Trust lists Monday to Friday 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday 11 am to 3 pm. Wear closed shoes and leave the bats in peace.

Flamingo Pond

An overlook off King’s Road near Whitby on North Caicos, free and always open. The birds are about 300 feet out, so bring binoculars, or rent a pair there for $2 in cash. Numbers vary, sometimes into the thousands.
