Bight Reef
A reef snorkel straight off the sand.
Bight Reef, also called Coral Gardens, is a shore snorkel off Bight Beach at the western end of Grace Bay, inside Princess Alexandra National Park.

Getting there
Two beach accesses lead to the reef from Lower Bight Road: the Coral Gardens access by Penn’s Road on the west side, and the usually quieter Stubb’s Road access to the east. Both have free parking. Vendors on the beach rent snorkel gear, loungers and umbrellas.
What you’ll see
The best coral is on the deeper east side, toward the far end. You’ll also see southern stingrays, parrotfish, groupers, angelfish and the odd nurse shark or eagle ray.
When to go
Choose a calm day, ideally with the wind under about 12 mph, and an incoming or high tide for the clearest water. Midday gives the best light.
The buoy rule
The ring of buoys marks a coral conservation zone: snorkel around it, never inside. Touch nothing, wear reef-safe sunscreen, and remember that fishing and taking conch or lobster here carry heavy fines.
Staying safe
Boats are the main danger, with tubing and wake rides passing fast just outside the swim area, so stay inside it and take extra care late in the day. There are no lifeguards. Currents are rare; if you meet one, swim across it toward shore rather than against it. Weaker swimmers will be happier in a snorkel vest.

Yes. The reef starts at the shore and runs out a few hundred feet, so there’s no boat needed.
Will I see turtles at Bight Reef?
Often. Visit TCI describes green turtles as fairly common there.

Shallow near the beach, reaching about 15 to 20 feet at its outer end.
